6th May 2014
Beating the competition with workplace innovation!

EUWIN’s next regional workshop will take place on 6th May in Vienna and will be hosted by Microsoft Austria in its brand new offices.

This time the special focus will be put on Austria and its neighbouring countries: Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia and Slovenia.

For the Vienna workshop EUWIN will join forces with the European Organisation Design Forum's experts, who will provide you with in-depth experiences of how workplaces can be designed and adapted to increase performance, innovative capacity and employee well-being.

We will focus on concrete cases presented by regional companies, discuss and work in groups, creating an interactive environment to stimulate your active participation. Participants will join a guided tour through the Microsoft facilities designed according to the “new world of work” concept which combines human, spatial and technological dimensions

The Conference is targeted at companies from the region as well as professionals in the field of organisational change and workplace innovation.

Participants will share:

  • Enhanced understanding of workplace innovation and its implementation.
  • Transferable lessons from company case studies: Why did they want to change? How did they do it?  What were the main challenges and how were they overcome?
  • Knowledge of participatory tools and approaches for workplace innovation.
  • Experience and creative thinking with peers through group work.
  • Insights from professional change managers and experts.

Trade Unions as Knowledgeable Participants in Workplace Innovation

Book here for our free Copenhagen Workshop on 29th - 30th April

Britta Thomsen MEP, Steen Høyrup (University of Aarhus) and Jan Arlbjørn (University of Southern  Denmark) will be sharing their understanding of the vital role that trade unions can play in workplace innovation at this ground breaking event next month.

They will join management and union representatives from companies in Denmark and across Europe. Becton-Dickinson is an Irish medical products company whose fortunes were turned around by their involvement with the SIPTU-led Ideas Institute. From Italy, Volker Telljohan (IRES – CGIL) will describe how management-union partnership in Lamborghini has enhanced participative forms of work organisation for employees.

From a public policy perspective, Tuomo Alasoini (TEKES) will show how trade union involvement is central to the Finnish Liideri (Business, Productivity and Joy at Work) programme.

The experience of Scandinavian trade unions has much to teach other European countries. Workshop participants will be able to explore these lessons with Pia Mulvad Reksten (Danish Confederation of Trade Unions), Peter Dragsbaek (The Central Organisation of Industrial Employees in Denmark) and Anthony Kallevig (Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions).

Participants will help to identify good practice guidelines for unions in Europe not involved in such initiatives, and to identify the potential for further collaboration.

Be part of this important discussion. Click here for further information.

And don’t forget to join us in Portugal for the launch of an exciting new initiative . . .

On 2nd May, the ICIEMC 2014 conference on innovation and entrepreneurship in Aveiro will host a Special Track on Workplace Innovation for the first time, led by EUWIN. This will bring together Portuguese company managers, policy makers and trade unions with national impact, where best practices may be shared with European success stories and with network coordinators. The informal networking session that will take place on the same day will lay the foundations for a Portuguese Alliance for Workplace Innovation.

For details of EUWIN’s Workplace Innovation track, including offers to present company cases, please contact Professor Frank Pot.

A special rate is available exclusively for companies wishing to participate in the Workplace Innovation Track. For €90 each registered participant will have access to the first day of the Conference on May 2nd.

What does EUWIN offer me?

EUWIN offers enterprises in the private and public sectors across Europe unique opportunities to learn from each other, sharing experience and knowledge of "what works" online and through workshops.

Policymakers, employers' organisations and trade unions gain insight into how they can make a difference by actively promoting and resourcing ways of working that lead both to higher performance and to better working lives.

Researchers gain important new opportunities for collaboration, and for disseminating their work in ways which influence academic debates and workplace practice alike.
